When we go out to eat we generally try to look for great toddler friendly restaurants. To us, this means a restaurant that’s not too quiet, has “kid friendly” food, and possibly outdoor space for a toddler to safely roam. We’ve come up with a list of restaurants with good kid-friendly layouts (specifically restaurants with patios!)
This list is geared more toward families with toddler-age kids (or those kids you want to keep contained 🙂 )
We’ve found that restaurants with outdoor seating are often best when you have a toddler who doesn’t like to sit still for long. It’s a special bonus when you find an outdoor area with a fence to keep those little ones from roaming too far. We feel like the best patios are either completely fenced in, or have minimal access to a street/parking lot. They are also a little smaller, with not too much room to roam, and easy to keep your toddler within arms reach or viewing distance. Here’s what we’ve come up with!
Pizzeria Gusto- There’s a gorgeous patio in the back!
* Guernsey Park and Chae don’t have the best “kid friendly” menus but earn points for good fenced in patios!
The Wedge– The Western location has a neat fenced in backyard area.
1492- The Midtown location has a patio in the back that is completely closed in and is fairly shaded!
Chiltepes– This restaurant is located in the Plaza District and has a completely enclosed patio looking onto 16th street.
The Mule- Also located in the Plaza District- The inside of the restaurant can get a little crowded, especially if you’re dining with multiple high chairs, but there is a good patio in the front that looks onto 16th street. It’s great for those little ones that like to point out all the buses and trucks that pass by…not that we’d know anything about that 😉
West– West has a large fence on the North side of the building. It’s not completely enclosed and doesn’t have the best shade cover, but is a nice option!
The Garage- The 122nd and Rockwell location has an awesome fenced in patio. It is a little sunny, but has umbrellas. The Midtown location is great for older kids because there’s a nice shaded outdoor area, but it’s not closed in and is near the street.
All of these restaurants either have a completely fenced in patio or might have one small access point from the parking lot or sidewalk.
More Tips:
- If you have older kids these restaurants are great options- Bleu Garten, The Hall’s Pizza Kitchen, Fassler Hall (from 11am-8pm- after 8:00 it is 21 to enter)
- Don’t try taking your kids to The Pump, The Patriarch (in Edmond), or Fassler Hall after 8:00 pm. While The Pump, and Patriarch seem similar to Bleu Garten, they don’t allow children.
- If you are wanting a fun, casual dining experience- try the new Pitchfork in the Park at the Myriad Gardens. It’s located near one of the splashpads, so you can chat and eat while your kids play! They are only open during lunch Tuesday-Thursday, but are open until 8:00 pm on the weekends.

While this isn’t an exhaustive list by any means, we’ve found these restaurants to be fun dining experiences for our family! If you have any more to add to the list, please leave them in the comments!
