Summer To-Do

This is the first summer that Jack is walking and able to enjoy a lot of activities and events that take place this time of year.  I have made a little list of “to-dos” that we want to enjoy this summer.

I am always on the lookout for free (or cheap) activities to do with Jack throughout the year.  We have a little bit of “just us” time before the baby arrives, and I want to make sure we are getting out and enjoying our time this summer.  I thought I would share a few activities that we are looking forward to this summer.

Berry Picking- There are a few different Berry Farms outside of Oklahoma City.  This summer we really want to try to “pick” one (see what I did there?!) and have a fun day on the farm!

Splash Pads We recently visited the Myriad Gardens splash pads and Jack had a blast.  He isn’t the most water-loving kid, but I think he will really enjoy these this summer.

Festivals/Fairs- We love street festivals in our house.  This past weekend we went to the Paseo Arts Festival and while it was hot, it was really fun to look around.  There are several other festivals going on this summer and you can find a family friendly list here.

Concerts/Shows- My family loves the theater and there are a ton of kid friendly shows and concerts this summer including many Children’s Theater productions, Lyric Theatre Productions, Shakespeare in the Park and free concerts/movies in the park.

Storytime- The library story and play times are always a hit with the little ones.  Click here for a list of library activities.  We also have enjoyed the Myriad Gardens story time on Wednesdays and many local coffee shops and bookstores have storytimes including: Barnes and Noble, Full Circle, Whole Foods, Cuppies and Joe, Best of Books and Commonplace Books. Check out my calendar of events on my homepage for times!

Museums- Our favorite is the Science Museum, but we also enjoy the National Cowboy and Western Museum (especially when they do “wide open Wednesdays), the Zoo, the Natural History Museum, and the Art Museum.
